Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 20) — Students in public schools will have a longer Christmas break.
Department of Education Secretary Leonor Briones on Thursday announced the suspension of classes in public schools nationwide on January 2, 2019, Wednesday.

Earlier, Malacañang ordered the suspension of government work on January 2 to give employees the “full opportunity” to celebrate the holidays.
Christmas is in the air! Our school is getting ready for the scheduled activities next week. On December 12, the school will present Christmas Cantata(music for voice or voices in several movements, for Christmas) which pupils and teachers of every grade level had been preparing for days. Christmas Cantata is presented right after the traditional Panunuluyan (which is a re-enactment by present-day faithful of the difficult search of Joseph and Mary for lodging/shelter in Bethlehem, is a tradition which brings together Filipinos in their own journeys of faith and hope). On December 13, 2018 classes will be shortened for Teachers’ Christmas Party in the afternoon. Childrens’ Christmas Party will be held on December 14, 2018 in their regular time schedule. Pupils and Teachers will come back on Saturday December 15, 2018 for a clean-up day. Christmas Break is from December 16, 2018 to January 1, 2019. Classes resumes on January 3, 2019.

Bagong Diwa Elementary School observes the celebration of the birthday of our National Hero, ANDRES BONIFACIO.
Bonifacio Day is held on 30 November. Unlike Rizal Day commemorates on his death anniversary, Bonifacio Day is celebrated on his birthdate. This is because Bonifacio was assassinated under orders of Emilio Aguinaldo, the first President of the Philippines and leader of the Magdalo faction that rivalled Bonifacio’s Magdiwang party. Aguinaldo at the time was in league with American troops, who were slowly arriving to occupy the country.
Bonifacio Day became a holiday when the Philippine Legislature passed Act No. 2946, declaring November 30 of every year as a national holiday in remembrance of the birth of Gat Andrés Bonifacio who started the Revolution to overthrow the Spanish colonial government. The holiday was first instituted in 1921 with a decree signed by American Governor-General Francis Burton Harrison.
The 5th School Learning Action Cell will be held on November 29, 2018. Classes are shortened for teachers to attend the 1PM activity. Morning Classes will have their class from 6AM to 9AM while Afternoon Classes will have their class from 9AM to 12 noon. The Activity is sponsored by the Grade 3 Department. It is a must for the teachers to attend the SLAC because important announcements and administrative matters will be discussed.

Itineraries such as Philippine Air Force Aerospace Museum, Rio Grande, fun and educational activities in Enchanted Kingdom and others made the pupils to hands-on experience on what they are talking about inside the classroom.
